What is The Boring Budget?
Firstly, thank you very much for checking out The Boring Budget!
My name is James and I have tried numerous self budgeting "hacks" to try save money - I can't say they have all been successful. The reason I started The Boring Budget was because too often I would scroll social media to find all of these gurus telling you how to make $10k a month with investing, or how they saved $100k in a year from their 9-5. Unrealistic expectations and timeframes flood these areas.
Budgeting isn't flashy and there should not be an expectation to make $10k in a month, or save 6-figures in a single year. In my opinion, it is about long-term, sustainable financial practices that better your financial position. Of course, the ultimate goal is to build a nest egg to comfortably retire and enjoy your life.
I believe if we treat money and budgeting as boring, we can separate ourselves from the hype of the early growth stage. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is wealth.
I started The Boring Budget to document and share my personal finance tips with anyone who may benefit. Nothing that I share is financial advice, just simply what I am doing to get ahead myself. I have also created templates to help me get there and help me to better understand my money habits.
Let's make money boring and watch boring grow.
